Transcription: A very large proportion of modern packaging is made of plastic. We throw away tons of it every week. But it doesn't have to be buried, for many plastics can now be recycled. The plastic is collected and taken to a recycling plant where it's sorted according to type. It's essential to separate out the different types of plastic. The plastics are then washed and shredded before being bagged and sent to a manufacturing plant. Here the plastic pieces are melted down to make recycled plastic items. More and more products are made from recycled plastic, including plant pots and traffic cones.
